Arusha National Park & Tarangire Safari Tour

Day 1: Arusha – Arusha National Park – Tarangire

You will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM. After a short briefing, you will drive approximately 40 minutes to Arusha National Park.

Upon arrival at the park gate, you will begin your experience with a guided walking safari accompanied by an armed ranger. This is a rare opportunity to explore the bush on foot, learning about animal tracks, medicinal plants, and the smaller details of the ecosystem that are often missed from a vehicle. You will have the chance to spot giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and warthogs along the way.

After the walking safari, you will continue with a game drive through the park. You will visit the Momella Lakes, where you can spot flamingos, pelicans, and other waterbirds. The forested areas are home to the famous black-and-white colobus monkeys, easily recognized by their long white tails and dramatic capes of fur.

You will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park, surrounded by the stunning scenery of Mount Meru. If time permits, you may opt for an optional canoe safari on the Momella Lakes for an additional cost.

In the late afternoon, you will exit Arusha National Park and drive approximately 2.5 to 3 hours to Tarangire. You will arrive at your lodge or camp in the evening, where you will check in, enjoy dinner, and spend the night.

Day 2: Full Day Tarangire – Return to Arusha

You will enjoy an early breakfast at your accommodation before heading into Tarangire National Park for a full day of game viewing.

Your morning game drive will take you along the Tarangire River, the park's lifeline during the dry season. This is where you will find large concentrations of elephants, sometimes in herds of up to 300 individuals. You will also search for lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and buffaloes. The park's iconic baobab trees, some of which are centuries old, provide a dramatic backdrop to your wildlife sightings.

You will stop for a picnic lunch at a designated scenic spot inside the park, allowing you to refuel while surrounded by the sounds and sights of the African bush.

In the afternoon, you will continue your game drive, exploring different areas of the park including the Silale Swamp and the open savannahs. Tarangire is also a birdwatcher's paradise with over 550 recorded species, so keep your binoculars ready for kori bustards, lovebirds, and countless other birds.

In the late afternoon, you will exit the park and begin your return drive to Arusha. You will arrive back at your hotel in the evening, bringing your 2-day safari adventure to a close.
